Ailsa Cheng, Team Lead at Katy Branch
Hi! My name is Ailsa Cheng, and I'm entering 11th grade at Seven Lakes High School next school year. I have been dancing and playing the guzheng/zither for 12 years. I have been a member of Music of Harmony since 2017 and have always admired this organization so much. When I was just starting out, I struggled with confidence and never thought I was playing or dancing good enough to perform in front of others. But after attending MOH, I realized the seniors at the nursing homes were always so attentive and encouraging after I performed, even coming up to ask me what my instrument was and telling me I did so good. This really helped me realize how much of an impact MOH has, not just on the people in the nursing homes, but on the performers. Throughout my time here, I've been able to experience first hand the joy MOH has brought to the people we've performed for - which made me realize how important bringing that sense of connection to our community is to me. My experience as a performer has taught me resilience, confidence, and compassion, all of which have aided me in instilling positivity and trust in those around me. I'm so honored to have been part of MOH for so long, and I will strive to continue the MOH legacy.
