Alice Ma, Previous Co-President at Sugar Land Branch and Marketing Director (2023)
Alice Ma is a senior student at The Kinkaid School, and she is so excited continuing to be the Marketing Director for MOH, and lead the Sugar Land chapter as Co-President. Her number one passion is dance, which she started at the age of three. She did competitive dance for more than ten years at the Oriental Arts Education Center, winning numerous titles at national dance competitions like Starquest and Showstopper, Alice started joining the Kinkaid Dance Company (DCO) in her freshman year, currently she is serving as the President of DCO , and she is also Co-President of Chinese Club, Speaker Representative Chair for the Young Alumni Leaders, Senior Representative for the Curriculum Committee, and Dance Captain of the annual spring musical. In her free time, Alice loves to read, watch Netflix, skiing and swim. She hopes to spread her love of art and bring joy to others through dance in Music of Harmony!

Philip Ma, Previous President at Sugar Land Branch (2023)
Philip is is a senior at Clements high school in Sugar Land, Texas. He loves music and sports. Philip has played piano for about 9 years and started when he was six. He started learning with Mr. Yifan Liu in Dallas. Since relocating to Sugar Land in the summer of 2018, he is a student of Mr. John Weems. Some music accomplishments include a 2nd place of 2018 Steinway Competition in Dallas, Finalist of 2019 MNTA 9th grade, Blinn College Young Pianists Competition- 2nd in 7th-8th grade (2019), 3rd place in 9th -10th grade (2020). 2018 Dallas Symphonic Festival Intermediate Concerto -3rd. 2017 Dallas Symphonic Festival Intermediate Sonatina- 1st . Other than music, Philip is an athlete in school. He played football in 7th and 8th grade, now he is a 110 m and 300 m hurdle runner in the high school track team. He wishes to bring joy to people through music

Daphne Chen is currently a rising junior at Memorial High School. She started her musical journey at age 7 on piano, and later transitioned into playing the oboe in 6th grade. Since then, she had been inseparable from music and participated in chamber orchestras such as Virtuosi of Houston as well as TMEA Region Band and Solo UIL on oboe. Alongside music and other art related hobbies, She always loves helping out in the community. As an officer in volunteer organization Art to Heart and the founder of her own non-profit club, Auxilium, she has been fortunate to experience as well as lead various charity and volunteer works. She exploits her passions for music and service in the most fulfilling way -- by giving back to the community through musical performances in MOH.

Claire is a senior at Cinco Ranch High School who has been a member of their marching band and Wind Ensemble for all four years of high school and their pit orchestra in 2020. She started playing the clarinet in 6th grade and has made the TMEA All-Region and Area bands as well as received gold medals at state solo and ensemble. She has also participated in competitions such as the Houston International Music Competition and was accepted into AFA Music Festival’s Symphony Orchestra for the summer of 2021. Aside from music, Claire enjoys spending time with friends and participates in a variety of organizations at school. She is an avid volunteer and believes that music can truly spread joy and bring people together.

Evan Zhang is a senior at Cinco Ranch High School who has played the clarinet for 2 years, and bass clarinet for 5 years. Throughout his music career, he has earned multiple awards spanning from TMEA All-State to UIL State Division 1 Solo. He has first introduced to the Bass Clarinet in his last year of middle school and since then he has always tried to find new opportunities to get better at his instrument. Throughout his life, he has had many hobbies and has recently taken interest in software development after seeing many technological advancements. He also enjoys working with others and likes using music to bring joy to the community.

Emily is an incoming senior at Seven Lakes High School and has started to attend their varsity orchestra there. She has always had passion and enthusiasm towards music. She has enrolled in many music camps, stayed in Houston Youth Symphony for 5 years, and has joined music programs at her school every year. She has been learning Cello for 12 years, and her passion towards her instrument continues to burn. Not only does she love to play her instrument, but she also loves to meet new people, and most importantly, share her dedication towards music to everyone. She has earned many awards in debate, Chinese, sports, and others. “I love spreading and expressing my love and emotion for music.”

Hayden Miller, Previous Vice President at Houston Branch (2023)
- Hayden Miller is a senior in the classical piano department at the Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. He has won prizes in multiple competitions, including 3rd prize in the Houston International Music Competition, first place in the CMTA Concerto, Multi-Era Solo, and Sonata competitions, and been a finalist in the TMTA Performance Competition. His performances have featured on multiple radio programs (Encore Houston and The Houston Hour) and the Piano Texas, Brevard, and Curtis summer festivals. An avid collaborator, he has worked with musicians including Lucy Wang (from the Viano String Quartet) and Ryan Martin Bradshaw. Hayden has appeared in masterclasses with artists including Stanislav Ioudenitch, Anne-Marie McDermott, Angela Cheng, and Svetlana Smolina. He studies privately with Jennifer Hayghe and Piper Ward.

Joshua was born in 2004 in Carbondale, IL. He moved with his mom to Houston, Texas in July, 2019. He is a rising senior at Bellaire High School, Bellaire, TX. Joshua loves music, has started to learn piano at age 4 and violin at age 9. He has been active in all kinds of music activities at many different occasions and places - concert halls, churches, schools, farmer markets, nursing homes, wedding ceremonies, contests, community services, festivals, to tutoring, etc. Some of his music achievements include 2nd place, TMTA G10 Piano Solo, 2021; 1st violinist. Weillison Hsu, Previous President at Houston Branch (2023)
Weillison Hsu is a senior at HSPVA who has been volunteering since 5th grade. He set up a Houston branch for Music of Harmony to expand its influence. He believes in the power of music and hopes to improve the quality of senior lives by promoting wellbeing and enriching the lives of more seniors in need. Weillison is active on the competition scene where he has won the Kuleshov International Piano Competition, 2022 Blinn College 11-12 Grade Division, 2021 KMTA Jazz Festival, 2020 TMTA Performance Contest, and 2019 Houston Forum Young Artist Contest. Also a violinist, Weillison has been a member of the first violin section in both the TMEA Region 23 Philharmonic Orchestra and the Houston Youth Symphony Philharmonia Orchestra. Kevin Mo - Former Marketing Director
Kevin graduated from Taylor Highschool and was a member of the Taylor Percussion Program. He has two years of experience on marimba and was a tenor player for the drumline. Kevin’s interest in music started with piano lessons at the age of 10 and was accelerated as he entered band in Junior High as a percussionist. Since then, music has been a huge part of Kevin’s life and define many of his accomplishments. He was a part of a state-level band wind symphony at school and did well at region and solo and ensemble competitions. Despite a heavy focus on music, Kevin also stressed the academic part of his life and has many other hobbies such as tennis, volunteering, and reading

Daniel graduated from the Glenda Dawson High School. He started piano study at six with Alicia Shirley. Daniel has participated in many competitions and recitals. He was third and second place in the TMTA Performance Contest 2018 and 2019 respectively, first place in the 2020 Baylor-Waco Competition, third place in the 2019 Steinway Piano Competition, second place in the 2018 Solo Division and winner of Best Beethoven in the 2020 of South Texas Piano Competition. He was a performer in 2017-2018 Houston Young Artist Concert. Other than piano, Daniel enjoys reading, writing, aqua scaping, skiing, swimming, and stock trading. He swam in Dawson varsity swim team

His passion and drive comes from his own desire to have a good time and to share that good time with everyone around him.

Derek was born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, grew up in the Washington DC area and Houston. He graduated from Seven Lakes High School in Katy. Music has always been a big part of his life. He started piano since he was 6 years old and saxophone since he was 9. He routinely attend musical recitals and solo competitions in University of Maryland, University of Houston and Rice University, and won third place in Forum Piano Jazz Festival in 2015 and 2017. Regarding saxophone, He has won first division at State Solo and Ensemble as well as Katy Young Artists Competition, and has competed in the All-Region audition numerous times. His brother Frank and him make an excellent duo and put on excellent shows including piano-piano and piano-sax duets.

Abhinav Basvoju
Abhinav Basvoju has been playing clarinet for over six years. His love and passion for the instrument has manifested in his outreach to senior homes. Since he started his musical journey, he has been enamored by performing for large audiences. He joined Music of Harmony in eighth grade and became a team leader in July of 2019. He appreciated that MOH has provided him with lifelong friends and has enriched his high school experience by providing him with a great way to spend his time helping others.

Jed was Treasurer, Vice President at Katy Branch, and he graduated from Seven Lakes High School. He was drum major of the Seven Lakes Marching Band and was in the Wind Symphony at Seven Lakes. He performed with the Seven Lakes Symphony Orchestra which placed first in the TMEA Honor Orchestra Competition. Jed consistently made state with an ensemble, and he has played piano for over 9 years and clarinet for 7 years. He plays many different types of clarinets but mainly plays the Bb soprano clarinet. Jed is very passionate towards music and helping people

Additionally, he has performed in the TMEA All-State Philharmonic Orchestra and sat principal cello in the TPSMEA All-State Orchestra. Some of his hobbies include eating, sleeping, and fantasy sports.

Randy has won various competitions for piano such as the 2019 Clear Lake Concerto Competition Senior Division, the 2019 South Texas Piano Competition Concerto Division and 2nd place in the South Texas Piano Competition Solo Division. Randy has also been in the String and Philharmonic orchestras in the TMEA All State Orchestra in 2017 and 2019. As a leader, Randy helped expand Music of Harmony and continued to organize future concerts

Frank is a rising sophomore at Seven Lakes High School As a young boy he has always loved music. He plays saxophone for his second year of honor band at his school and plays piano in his free time. He also enjoys doing duets with his brother Derek who he is very close to. The thing he likes about music so much is the ability for him to be creative and open with his mind. It has always put him in a better mood and spread happiness to others. He inspires to be better at both instruments, as well influencing people around him.

April Feng, Former President at Katy Branch
April is a senior at Seven Lakes High School and has been in the top orchestra there for all three years. In fact, she performed at the prestigious Midwest Clinic in late 2015 with the Beckendorff Honor Orchestra. She started playing the violin from a young age, and thoroughly enjoys being able to bring the joy of music to others. Furthermore, she has founded multiple ensembles that perform routinely around the community. At school, she is an academically outstanding student, and she holds many major leadership positions, such as yearbook editor in chief, National Junior Honor Society President, and concertmaster of the Honor Orchestra (for two consecutive years). April is a senior at Seven Lakes High School and has been in the top orchestra there for all three years. In fact, she performed at the prestigious Midwest Clinic in late 2015 with the Beckendorff Honor Orchestra. She started playing the violin from a young age, and thoroughly enjoys being able to bring the joy of music to others. Furthermore, she has founded multiple ensembles that perform routinely around the community. At school, she is an academically outstanding student, and she holds many major leadership positions, such as yearbook editor in chief, National Junior Honor Society President, and concertmaster of the Honor Orchestra (for two consecutive years). Rachel Gai, Former Vice President and webmaster at Katy Branch
Rachel Gai is a senior at The AWTY International School. She recognized her love for piano at the age of four and soon picked up guitar when she was 13. Not only does Rachel take great pleasure in music but she also loves film, photography, poetry, and especially dance. Rachel has shown her love for dance by winning numerous awards at regional and national competitions, as well as performing at a variety of events. Furthermore, through Music of Harmony, she hopes to spread her passion of art with others in her community.

Claire Zeng is a 12th grader at the Texas Academy of Math and Science (TAMS). She has been playing violin since 5th grade. She performed as part of the TMEA Honor Orchestra Champions and has received 1’s at the Regional Solo and Ensemble Contest every year. Aside from music, Claire is the Honors Chemistry committee head for TAMS Academic Society and the events coordinator for TAMS Culinary Society. Her hobbies include reading, drawing/painting, baking, and volunteering in the community. Peter has won Gold Medal in 2021 ADDGT, Third Prize in the Sonataina and Sonata International Youth Piano Competition of 2018, and Third Prize in the American Protoge in 2020. Apart from Piano, Peter has won two time State Champion for his grade level in chess, and fourth place in Nationals. During the summer, he participates in Autonomous Driving courses in his free time and has won the Robot Open Autonomous Racing (ROAR) internationla competition hosted at UC Berkeley. Peter hopes to continue spreading joy to everyone.

Antai Liu is a senior at Seven Lakes High School and has played the alto saxophone since middle school. He has earned several Division 1 scores for his UIL solos and has placed in Region 23 bands. He enjoys sharing his tastes in music with different people and listens to different kinds of music, whether it's pop or classical. Outside of music, he recognizes the importance of quality sleep and has attempted to balance his love for music between busy schoolwork and extracirricular commitments. Matthew Ting is a Senior at Jordan High School who has been a flute player for over 6 years, and a volunteer with Music of Harmony for over 3. During his career as a musician, he has earned several Region 23 band placements and Division 1 scores in the UIL Solo & Ensemble contest. He has been part of the Jordan High School band and guard for 3 years as a symphonic band member and section leader. His hobbies include learning the ukulele and guitar, 3D modeling, and playing video games. Matthew hopes that, through his performance of beautiful, simple, and recognizable flute pieces with Music of Harmony, he can touch the lives of people who may feel neglected and forgotten with music imbued with passion, care, and love.

Aside from making music, Sam is also a dedicated runner in the Seven Lakes cross country and track and field team. Ultimately, Sam believes the end goal of making music is to share it with others, and doing so will make the world a better place.

David Chen is a senior attending Clements High School in Sugar Land, TX. He has played cello for 7 years under the tutelage of Ms. Cindy Fu. As a cellist, David has received a superior rating at the 2021-2022 Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest. He has also been a member of the Houston Youth Symphony for 6 years. David currently plays in the Symphony Orchestra (highest level). He has auditioned for the TMEA 13 All-Area Orchestra twice and the TMEA 13 All-Region Orchestra 3 times. David has also volunteered at MOH and various other music organizations for 100+ hours. In his spare time, David enjoys playing chess and soccer. David’s active involvement in MOH will help senior citizens find joy in music.

Under current teacher, Dr. Richard Marshall of Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music, Vicky has advanced to many new levels with recognitions including being inducted into the Houston Young Artists’ Concert, a program that conducts community outreach concerts in a similar way to MOH, and this year getting 2nd place in my division in the Baylor/Waco Piano Competition and 3rd in the statewide TMTA. Vicky has always had a strong inclination to assist, contribute to, and give back to the community, and MOH has been a great way to do that.
