Rooted in Love.

Our Origins

Music of Harmony began back in 2016 as a small, grassroots initiative inspired by the need to alleviate social isolation in senior living facilities. What began as thoughtful conversations between a few musician friends has since evolved into a nationwide nonprofit that has impacted thousands of senior citizens and empowered hundreds more musicians. Formed by Nathaniel Zhang, Jimmy Liu, Larry Xue, Grace Liu, Kelly Xue, Bryant Li, and Audrey Li, this group sought out to complete one mission—to use live music to do good for the community.

Through the Years

In its earliest stages, Music of Harmony consisted of intimate performances at senior homes. Performers were sparse—often filling one-hour performances with multiple songs—but they were empowered by the shared passion to bring joy to seniors’ lives through music. As word of Music of Harmony caught on, more musicians began to perform and saw how melodies could be a vehicle for connection and joy.

Looking Ahead

Now, Music of Harmony has transformed from a one-time service activity into a structured, ongoing organization that has sustained partnerships with over 30 senior living facilities and 2000 student-musicians in its network, all while spreading the message of music’s potential to impact people’s lives. But while Music of Harmony has grown in scale, one message remains unchanged: music is a universal language that connects, comforts, and transforms lives.
