Yuruo Shen is a senior at Carnegie Vanguard High School. When she isn’t at her piano aggressively replaying Chopin or obsessing over anime piano arrangements, she’s likely reading a manhwa, crocheting, practicing karate, or checking out Tex-Mex restaurants. Something that fascinates her is the endless horizon of languages and instruments and how they are constantly evolving. Yuruo has loved music since a young age and has played piano for 12 years and violin for 10 years. In addition, she has not only passed several Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) Exams but also participated in the Houston Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Region 23 Orchestra in 2021 and 2022. Yuruo enjoys bringing good music to her community and has been performing locally since 2nd grade (2016). In 5th grade (2019), she joined Music of Harmony (thanks to Jenny Sun) and currently leads events at the Village of Meyerland (every 1st Sunday; come join us!). Yuruo hopes to make MOH an organization that helps student performers build confidence in their capability to perform and their ability to bring joy to others, all while improving their skills among a thriving community of enthusiastic musicians.
