MOH Memorial 2026 Alice Duan - Team Leader.jpeg

My name is Alice Duan, and I’m currently in 9th grade. Four years ago, I discovered the

guzheng (zither), a traditional Chinese instrument, and it became much more than just a hobby.

At first, the strings felt stiff and unfamiliar, but through practice, I grew not only in skill but in

confidence. Playing the guzheng opened a new way for me to connect with my culture and

express myself. Beyond learning music, it taught me patience, resilience, and the value of

dedication. Sharing my music with family and friends has been a source of encouragement that

inspired me to found LYMO, a youth musician organization in Africa that has raised thousands

of dollars to support local communities in need. This journey has shaped who I am today—a

young musician hoping to build connections through the beauty of music!
