One of my favorite moments is seeing the joy and happiness on the faces of seniors in nursing homes after a performance. Outside of music, I enjoy reading, volunteering, and baking

Hi, my name is Jason Zhao and I'm currently a junior at Tompkins High School in Katy, Texas. I have been enrolled in band for the past 5 years, starting in 6th grade. My instrument in band is the flute, and I have an older brother who plays the clarinet and is a team leader in MOH. I have been consistently in the top band throughout middle/high school and have also consistently placed top chairs in the region band. I also plan to become a section leader in band next year. I frequently attend MOH performances for senior homes and enjoy volunteering as a member. Outside of band, I enjoy playing tennis and conducting scientific research. I am ranked in the top 8% in my school and enjoy hanging out with band, orchestra, and choir friends. To me, music is not something you memorize or achieve with ease. Instead, I think music should be something you feel after years of hard dedication. I also have a white dog called Mario.
